Your Instagram Handle

So we can analyze your profile

Why we need this

With your handle we can tailor the following steps to your profile and give you concrete tips – e.g. whether your username is well chosen.

01

Your Username

How easy are you to find?

Why this matters

When someone vaguely remembers your name and searches for you, they need to find you. A complicated username with three underscores and a year makes that hard. Simple and memorable wins.

Good: your name, name.tattoo, name.ink, name.art
Not good: __name__tattoo__official_2019, name.tattoo.art.studio
💡Tip: Consistency across all platforms. Same name on Instagram, TikTok and everywhere you're present.
02

Name Field

Do you show up in searches?

A trick almost nobody uses

Instagram indexes the name field for search, not just the username. Whoever enters "Tattoo Artist Berlin" or "Fine Line Tattoo Munich" instead of just their name will appear in these searches. Without paid ads.

Examples for the name field
Blackwork Tattoo Berlin
Marco T. · Fine Line Artist · Hamburg
Sara Art

Your Profile Picture

It's about personality

Why the profile picture matters so much

Your profile picture is often the first impression. People follow people – not logos, not abstract motifs. A tattoo artist profile lives on trust and closeness. Whoever shows their face comes across as approachable and genuine. The image is tiny in the feed – a face is still instantly recognizable.

👤Face over tattoo: A clear photo of you beats a tattoo photo. People want to know who's behind the account.
Show yourself: Your style, your vibe. In the studio, at work, or an authentic portrait. It's about you as a person.
😊Look approachable: A friendly gaze, natural light. No overly polished studio shoot – honest and relatable.
📐Technical: Square (Instagram crops it), good lighting, clear background. Your face should be clearly recognizable, even as a small thumbnail.
🔄Don't change constantly: A profile picture that looks different every three months feels restless. Find one image and stick with it – at least a year.
Avoid: Group photos (which one are you?), fully covered face, just tattooed hands. You want to be recognized.

Your Bio

150 characters that say it all

Why the bio is so important

New profile visitors decide in seconds whether to follow. The bio answers three questions: What do you do? Where are you? Why should I follow or message you? If one of these is missing, you lose followers and inquiries.

Link in Bio

Where do you send interested people?

The often forgotten step

Someone looks at your profile, wants to contact you, clicks the link and lands on a page that hasn't been updated in two years. That breaks trust in seconds.

taYour own tatme linkRecommended

With tatme you get your own profile page at tatme.com/yourname that shows exactly what potential customers need: your portfolio, your style, your prices and a direct path to booking. Everything on one page, always up to date.

1️⃣Option 1: tatme.com/yourname — everything in one. No extra tool, no piecing together. Your tatme profile is directly bookable.
2️⃣Option 2: Link-in-bio tool. Linktree, Later, Beacons. When you want to link multiple destinations that aren't in tatme yet.
📋What the link should offer: Booking request, portfolio, flash if available, price info. No more than 4 things. More is confusing.
⚠️Warning: Check the link regularly. An outdated or broken link costs you bookings without you noticing.

What highlights do

Stories disappear after 24 hours. Highlights don't. They work like a mini-menu on your profile. Anyone who wants to know more about you finds everything organized there. And you decide what's there.

FAQ
🎨Cover images: Design them consistently. Same color or same style for all covers. A chaotic highlight shelf on an otherwise professional profile stands out.
💡FAQ highlight: Summarize the three most common DM questions you get. Saves you time and guides potential customers.
🔄Keep current: Highlights showing year-old stories look abandoned. Quick review once a quarter.
